Dear Friends,
There is something that I am eager to see Friday and Sunday morning. I wonder who I might meet for the first time at St. Andrew’s that morning. Much more often than not, there are new people who find our congregation that morning. The transient life of our English-speaking community in Cairo is a big reason. New people come to church, looking for a sense of home away from their home country. I think that in many ways, they find it here at St. Andrew’s.
So, I think that a special kind of hospitality for visitors is one of our important tasks. We do a good job at warmly engaging new people in our midst. The book of Acts talks about the community of faith in fellowship: “Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.” At church is where Christian fellowship begins.
Thanks for your welcoming of new faces into our midst at St. Andrew’s.
In Christ’s peace,
Pastor Peter
